Could you create a topic on the message boards for the running seminars? I have some cool links that people might find helpful. Especially as we get into things like running shoe selection. Just saw this link today...
Thanks Ricey...you are a smart guy...great to post that shoe info....
and if you wonder if POSE style running or barefoot running is "right" for you or your body....Born to Run by Christopher McDougall is a MUST READ!! (I have the book if anyone wants to borrow it)
BTW - for anyone not looking to take the jump to barefoot running, or running in Vibram FiveFinger shoes, there are lots of running shoes out there that will help your running technique.
Look for shoes that don't have all that padding in the heel! All that padding just encourages you to heel-strike. If you don't have all that padding in the heel, you will feel it when you heel strike - and it won't feel good. And while extra heel padding may make your heel feel better, it doesn't change the amount of impact force you are imparting on your knees, hips and back. The only way to reduce that is to fix your running technique.
Having a shoe that discourages you from landing on your heel can help you fix your technique by reminding you when you slip back in to bad technique.
General advice is to look for "racing flats". MedVed or FleetFeet locally can help you find them. My personal favorite is the Adidas adizero pro. The new Adidas adizero rocket look very similar and I think are the replacement for the adizero pro.
Remember... less heel padding is better!!! See everyone at the running clinic!!!
